Endless Pleasures : Music from London's Pleasure Gardens

Soprano Mary Bevan
Director Christopher Bucknall
Concertmaster Adam Lord

The International Baroque Players present outstanding period instrument performance by talented young musicians from all over the world. The Pleasure Gardens of the Eighteenth Century provided Londoners from all walks of life, evenings of multi-sensory entertainment. Food, wine, music and visual spectacle provided respite from the crowded city. On this occasion the ensemble will be directed by up-and-coming harpsichordist Christopher Bucknall who works extensively in baroque opera and chamber music, and recently toured as a concerto soloist with Rachel Podger. For these concerts the IBP also welcome talented soprano Mary Bevan (“when she opened up her high register…the effect was ravishing” The Independent).

Programme to include Arne The Morning, Harpsichord Concerto No.5 in G minor and Gentle Swains as well as Handel Concerto Grosso Op.6 No.1 and Overture from Alcina, Boyce Symphony No.8 and Avison/Scarlatti Concerto Grosso No.9 in C.
